Creative Writing workshops
Imaginative creative writing workshops for KS1 & KS2
I have been writing stories for my own use and for heritage settings for many years and I love sharing my practise with pupils to help them develop their own creative writing and poetry skills.
I offer a range of imaginative creative writing workshops which not only support teaching NC English and History for KS1 & KS2 but also develop your pupils as writers. Sessions are tailored for individual year groups, to ensure they meet the requirements of particular key stages and subjects. Some sessions can be adapted to be taught online and I can also create a bespoke creative writing session for you - contact me to discuss your requirements.
Hear my voice (KS1 & KS2)
This workshop takes a historical artefact, photograph or document as inspiration to create stories and poetry. You choose the time period and/or the object and I create the activities but, typically, workshops include a mixture of story writing, creative artefact labels, poetry and kennings (subject to time and age).
This workshop can be tailored so it is delivered as either a half or full day per class, or it can be delivered over several sessions - either in school or online. (If delivered online or over a series of sessions in school I provide follow up work to do between sessions.)
Contact me for costs and to discuss your workshop.

Wild Words (KS1 & KS2)
Inspired by books such as The Lost Words, The Lost Spells and Wild Child, this workshop explores the natural world to create stories and poetry. It can be tailored to suit the surrounding area of your school (sea, woods, park, etc) and I provide a range of resources to inspire pupils' writing.
Typically, workshops include a mixture of story writing, creative artefact labels, printing, poetry and kennings (subject to time and age).
This workshop can be tailored so it is delivered as a full day per class, or it can be delivered over several sessions - either in school or online. (If delivered online or over a series of sessions in school I provide follow up work to do between sessions.)

Lost Property Tales (KS1 & KS2)
The Lost Property Office has a very strange collection of bags and boxes and each one tells an amazing story! You might see a briefcase with Top Secret files, a beautiful bag with strange eggs inside or a locked tin containing its owner's most precious belongings.
I bring a range of weird and wonderful objects from Lost Property Tales into school to inspire pupils to create stories about the owners of each bag, or box, as well as imagine what their journeys and lives were like. We will brainstorm ideas together and I will use one set of ideas to create a mini story on the spot. Pupils will then plot their own stories.
This workshop can be tailored so it is delivered as either a half or full day per class.
